Simply put, Got off the plane ,picked up by a friend, asked if I was hungry and this is where we ended up and I really liked it. Tucked away in a small strip mall , this little gem is worth seeking out. Ordered cafe con leche and it was very good, not everyone makes a good cafe con leche and this place does. they have a long list of mofongo dishes with everything from ropa vieja to bistec and I opted for the one with the camarones al ajillo ( shrimp in garlic sauce) and it was the best I've ever had. The portion of mofongo( plantain smashed and cooked and served in a ball form to be eaten with - in my case the shrimp and dipped in its sauce/juice- JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURE I'VE INCLUDED, YUMMMMMMY!!! I decided to also try a passion fruit juice- "Parcha" and it was so good I almost ordered a 2nd one but that would've put me to sleep...LOL for those that know what parcha is and does, you understand , ) My friend ordered the tostones (fried plantain) with Grouper and I was like WOW! very tasty. The ambiance is nice, has a home feeling to it where the tables are close, the music playing throughout the restaurant makes you want to get up and dance salsa or bachata. The staff are very welcoming and the food is made fresh from the kitchen to your table, which is a must in many latin american countries, you simply can't just eat anything thats been sitting for a few minutes- it must be eaten hot, fresh from the stove/oven. Very filling and generous portions for the price which by the way is not expensive at all. Where I live up in the Chicago area, these dishes would be priced alot higher and you would not get the portion like you do here. Seek it out, i've heard that the chivo is excellent too when it's available. Lunch time gets very packed and is very busy, we stopped in about 430 5pm and it was not as crowded but there was a steady flow of people coming in

Las Americas is a little family owned Latin restaurant tucked away in a plaza off of military and forest hill and if not careful can be missed in passing. I stopped here for breakfast one Saturday morning only to stand/sit for 15 mins before even being acknowledge as far as customer service goes. Eventually I attempted to gain the attention of one of the waitresses who happened to be socializing In Spanish with several customers who came in AFTER me. I ask "Are you taking orders?" and receive a look of bewilderment followed by a "¿Que?" I then ask "habla Ingles" only to be told no by her but answered in English by another whom replied with sass of course. I then proceed with my order in Spanish only to be looked at as if I had an extremity of some sort growing between my eyes. After waiting amongst chaos for another 15 minutes which is no where near bad timing for freshly cooked food, I opened up my take out box only to realize my order was wrong :(food was fresh and fantastic tasting so I couldn't be bothered to return after already having driven .7 miles away. I ordered the mangu con frito salami along with a side of queso frito but recieved chicharrone de pollo with a side of tostones. I would be a regular if I knew my visits could be accomplished on and out basis but the hustle and bustle keeps me across the street at El Patio another lovely gem :). Downside is El patio isn't open for breakfast. I give Las Americas 3 stars because of the service not the food. Food is great!

The food is amazing. The mofongo, tostones with different kind of meat makes it easier for all taste. If you want to feel in San Juan this is the place.

It is very hard to find a dominican restaurant in West Palm Beach so I guess we can say it's the best out here but coming from NYC and comparing this restaurant to the restaurants over there this restaurant comes up short every time. Again, for being the only dominican restaurant in West Palm it is worth a try.
